My name is Sam, and, sometimes, I like to write.

My hobbies are chess, poker, riding bikes, hiking, computer science, and being a good person.

I am currently working as a Data Engineer at Amazon.

My work includes:

• AWS (Redshift, SNS/SQS, Glue, EMR, Lambda, etc..) managed via CDK
• Database Administration/Maintenance (Multiple Redshift Clusters, RDS, and Dynamo DB)
• I read/write a lot of SQL (mostly in Redshift which is a fork of Postgres or EMR using the Spark SQL API) also Python, TypeScript, and Java
• Creating batch & streaming data pipelines, data modeling
• Develop LP models, simulations, etc… to optimize small aspects of our supply chain

What I’m learning about/deep diving right now:

• Writing/Understanding OCaml
• AWS Advanced Networking
• Trying to finish The Count of Monte Cristo
• My stand up comedy routine
